What is a pitch raise?
A pitch raise involves increasing the tension of all of your piano strings. This is a more comprehensive method of tuning your piano. If your piano has gone a long time without tuning, or has been subject to humidity and temperature change, the piano strings will lose tension. Pianos in this state require a lot more tuning and more tension to be added back to the strings. This procedure takes more time than our regular piano tuning service, where we make small, incremental changes to the strings.
Our process - what our pitch raise service involves
At Inner West Piano Tuning, we follow the process that has served our customers well over the years. Our pitch raise service is a more comprehensive tuning of your piano. The process includes:

When does my piano need tuning after a pitch raise service?
After a piano has a pitch raise service, it is important to tune your piano again within two months, or earlier, if significant tension has been applied to the strings. This tension is put on your piano’s frame and the frame will readjust itself to the new tension. This means the piano strings slip and need further modification. When we perform a pitch raise service with you, we will advise when your piano will need tuning based on what we have done.
